Lisa is a partner in the Vorys Columbus office and a member of the health care group.  She advises a wide range of health care clients in areas of health care regulatory compliance, including  health information privacy and security compliance, state certification and licensure issues, fraud and abuse compliance counseling, and response to government investigations at both the state and federal levels.  Recently, her practice has had a particular focus on health information technology, including health information privacy and security under HIPAA, state confidentiality laws, and 42 C.F.R. Part 2; data breach response; EHR contracting and implementation issues (including meaningful use compliance); complex data sharing arrangements; telehealth; and information blocking counseling under the 21st Century Cures Act.  She also has extensive experience with physician contracting issues, medical staff governance issues, and the peer review process.

Lisa is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) HIT practice group where she is currently the Vice President of Education.  She has been a member of HIT Practice Group’s  leadership team since 2015 having held the positions of Vice President of Strategic Planning, Vice President of Research and Website, and Vice President of Membership during her tenure in the HIT Practice Group.  Lisa is also a member of the Columbus Bar Association’s Health Care Committee.

Lisa has presented in-person trainings, webinars, and seminars on numerous topics including HIPAA compliance, confidentiality of medical and mental health records, the pitfalls of EHRs in litigation, the EEOC’s guidance on mandatory COVID-19 testing and vaccinations, information blocking under the 21st Century Cures Act, and data breach response.

Lisa is a member of the Vorys’ Electronic Discovery subgroup and the Information Governance Committee.

Lisa has significant experience in the areas of health care, data breach response, government investigations, and commercial and business litigation.

Lisa received her J.D. summa cum laude from The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law where she was a member of the Order of the Coif and a staff member and a Managing Editor of The Ohio State Law Journal. She received her B.A. cum laude from Harvard University.
